The castle ruins of Hohenerpfingen, also known as Schnatren, tower over Erpfingen in Baden-Württemberg. Built in the 12th century, this hilltop castle still features impressive moats and a powerful front wall. Over the centuries, various noble families owned the castle, including the Salmendingers and the Schenken von Andeck. Conflicts with the Counts of Württemberg ultimately led to the castle’s decline, and it was referred to as a Burgstall (castle site) from 1385 onwards. Today, the ruins are a popular excursion destination and a testament to medieval history, having been restored in 1985.Wikipedia
